Open Day

I was impressed by the lecturer’s presentation, which included an explanation of montage which I am already familiar with through my Extend BTEC Diploma at Burton College. It was interesting to see an example of a short film made by one of the course students. The concept was good and the story line had a twist which I like to see in films. If this is the type of film I can make at Manchester Metropolitan Uni, then this will fulfil my expectations of a Film making course.

I liked the fact that two ex-students were there to contribute and demonstrate how they have progressed since they graduated and it showed me that it is possible to have a career in the media industry, which is my ultimate goal.

The online cinema was appealing because you can place your films on there for others to view plus you can gain valuable tips from viewing other students’ work. I am good team player and like the concept of sharing ideas with others who may have different skill set to me.

The lecturer was a good presenter and seemed to be the type of person that I would work well with and he convinced me even more that I wanted to get involved in film making at a degree level.

It is key to me that in the second year, I can get involved in personal filmmaking and play to my own strengths i.e. towards the role of director or scriptwriter which are two of preferred roles.
